GEM DROP: Teddy Pendergrass & Stephanie Mills – “Two Hearts”

There’s a very simple reason why I love soul music from this era (and cats who perpetuate this style in the present like Jamiroquai)….

ORCHESTRATION.

The sweeping strings, the hand claps, the steady piano..the raw emotion in Stephanie’s and Teddy’s voices…you just can’t better than a record this intricately put together. I think the late 70s/early 80s was the most fantastic time for this orchestral soul sound, and this record right here is a prime example of the beauty that can come from such a lush melding of sounds.

In honor of all the lovers making love as I type this around the world, this one is for you.

I present to you…….
